If you’ve got a story to tell, chances are we want to hear it. We accept guest posts and features from travel writers and food bloggers to write for us and become part of our growing community. Are you a travel blogger with travel tips, destination guides, or even just a fascinating story? Or maybe a total foodie that always goes searching for hole-in-the-wall kinds of places. Either way, we want you to write for us! Alongside the practical stuff, we always want to hear your personal experience, too – write it like you were talking to a friend.
Our two main categories are travel articles and food guides:
Within our travel stories, we include travel guides, packing lists and tips, travel experiences and hiking/adventure posts. Any travel blogger or travel enthusiast who wants to write for us should take a look around to get a good idea of the kinds of travel stories we love:
– Unique voices, from real people. Let the real “you” shine and don’t worry too much about sounding polished or professional; that’s not our vibe.
– Interesting stories. Want to let everyone know the 10 best things to do in X city? Amazing! But make sure to tell us which was your favourite, why, and any weird things that happened along the way.
– Travel Guides. If you struggled to find guidance online how to get from A to B and figured it out for yourself, write the guide up here to help anyone following in your footsteps!
We’re open to posting articles about destinations that are already featured on Food, Travel, Explore, as well as new destinations.
When it comes to food and recipe articles, we’re looking for high-quality food guides, interesting takes on cuisines, or informational pieces. Again, any food blogger looking to write for us should take a look around the website to get an idea of the kinds of content we publish:
We’re looking for travel bloggers and food writers who want to contribute guest posts that Food, Travel, Explore. If you take a look around you’re likely to get a good idea of the kinds of writing we love:
– Unique voices, from real people. Let the real “you” shine and don’t worry too much about sounding polished or professional; that’s not our vibe.
– Interesting and less well-known cuisines. You’re very welcome to write about well-known cuisines, as long as you take a lesser-known angle.
– City Guides. Know where to get the best sushi in Berlin, or the most vegetarian options in Budapest? We want to know, too!
Firstly, read the submission guidelines below. If you miss something out, I (editor Isabella) will get back to you with a nudge, but following all of the guidance below will save us both time! You can submit your guest post by emailing me (isabella[at]foodtravelexplore.com) or by filling out our contact form here.
When you submit, please make it clear if you are happy for your article to be posted with minor edits or corrections, such as spell checking. Again, this saves a lot of time and back-and-forth before the piece is finalised!
Please note that we only pay for commissioned pieces. That means, if we approach you and ask you to write something. However we always welcome guest bloggers and writers and offer one do-follow link to a non-commercial website (e.g. a link to your own blog or website*). per 1,000 words of content. If we commission a piece and agree to pay you, we won’t include any backlinks because Google does not allow it. Please include your links embedded in the text where you would like them to appear once published.
*you can also include relevant links to companies or products mentioned, as long as it is extremely clear you are not being paid to do so.
Your article must contain at least 1,000 words (no more than 2,500) and be original, high quality writing.
Within the same document please include:
– Your name as you would like it to appear on the website
– A short bio about you (2-3 sentences)
– Any photos you’d like to include (please only include photos that you took yourself)
– Your email address
– Make sure the email address submitted has a gravatar uploaded at gravatar.com
– Feel free to include your social media profiles, although it is not mandatory
